I am a Birmingham wedding photographer who specializes in Micro Weddings. Susie and David were married in October of 2022. They were surrounded by close friends and family and had an intimate ceremony at a private residence- an absolutely beautiful home in Birmingham. It felt like we were at a quaint wedding venue, and it couldn’t have been more wonderful.
How exciting to be asked to photograph Susie and David’s Micro Wedding since I’ve known them both for over a decade! They weren’t interested in the fuss of preparation photos, but wanted more time spent creating portraits.
They chose to have their ceremony at sunset. The people most important in their lives surrounded them with candles. They requested no flash, so instead, I placed a small cube of light atop my camera that provided just enough illumination to create images. Total transparency, it was challenging light to work in, but it was more important that I not interrupt the vision they had. (I adapt to you! It’s your day.)
The reception was lively, full of dancing and laughter. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them so happy!
Susie and David share many interests. He designed this tattoo for her, which matches one he has as well. They’re also both talented musicians.
I’m very grateful I was a part of this day with them; it was so, so special getting to document their wedding.
I enjoy photographing weddings, but what I’m really ecstatic about is photographing Micro Weddings instead of 10-12 hour wedding days! It’s a welcomed change!
