Most often I will meet you at an agreed upon location in the Birmingham area, such as a public park for a natural setting or in downtown Birmingham for a city setting for our session. The first 20 miles to the location is included in the price; beyond 20 miles from my home in West Homewood is $1.25 per mile, which will be added to your total.
I will travel to your home for a session. These sessions are relaxed and wonderful for newborns. They're also perfect for anyone not wanting to venture outdoors in the winter or summer months for a session. The first twenty-five miles from my home in West Homewood to yours are included in the price. Mileage after 25 miles is $.75 per mile, which will be added to your total.
We will meet at a studio space in the city of Birmingham. Although I have studio lighting, I rarely use it. I prefer to use natural lighting from the windows in the room, even inside a studio space; there's one in particular I rent. It's a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, much like photographing in your home. So if it's highly retouched "glam" you're after, we're probably not the best fit. I will photograph individuals and couples, but not families in-studio.
A Micro Wedding is an intimate event with considerably fewer guests than a traditional wedding and up to five hours in length.
I don't normally offer mini-sessions. Short sessions do not work well with my photography style. My creativity feels stifled by being rushed, and I try to provide clients with an experience, not "just a few quick photos". I've also seen too many tears from little ones who felt pressured by the parents to act a certain way in a short amount of time so the session wouldn't be a "waste."

I will travel to your home for our session. At-home Sessions are relaxed and wonderful for newborns. They're also perfect for anyone not wanting to venture outdoors in the winter or summer months for a session. The first twenty miles from my home to yours are included in the price. You will not pay tax on top of the session or event pricing cost. Photographers are required to pay 10% sales tax on all tangible goods, which include digital files, printed images, and albums, so you will be charged tax on those items.
Yes, I do! When you receive your gallery link to view your images, you'll have the option of shopping for digital files (if you didn't purchase them when booking), printed images on canvas and photographic paper, and/or albums.

It's been more than 25 years since my first photography class! I studied Photography and Art Education in college, graduated with a double major-a BS and BFA, taught school for fifteen years, and resigned from teaching in 2015 to begin Bang Images. I think I connect with children because of my teaching experience and raising my own two children. I bring an artistic eye to each session because it's hugely who I am and I feel my study of art in college influenced that part of my approach.
Since switching from film to digital photography, I tend to overshoot. You will not receive every image. Instead, you will have a gallery full of professionally culled and edited images. You won't see duplicates, photos that are blurry, over or underexposed, or incredibly unflattering captures. Your gallery will be artistically and professionally curated to feature the best images from your session.
I like the words bold, real, contagious emotion (as described by a client). I love rich color and contrast. My approach to family and couple's photography is very natural with as little interruption as possible and minimal posing. Of course, I'm happy to help if it looks like it's needed though. Portraits of individuals require more interaction on my part and some creative posing. My goal is to take an artful approach to create images that don't feel stiff.
I've been photographing with Nikon and Sigma equipment for over ten years. I recently purchased my first mirrorless camera, a Nikon Z6 ii, and I have a Nikon D780, and Nikon D750, and an assortment of lenses ranging in focal lengths from 14 mm-200 mm. The variety of lenses allows me to photograph up close in an intimate way and from far away if needed, such as during the Pandemic.

I am the photographer that will be at your portrait session. And since I only photograph Micro Weddings now instead of full-length wedding days, I am often the only photographer. A second photographer may be hired for your Micro Wedding at additional cost; I know several talented professionals who have photographed many weddings with me over the years.
