2025 Photography Retrospective | Bang Images

The staff at Hairfolk Salon (some are pictured above) is really the nicest group of people you could ever hope to work with. I’ve photographed for them for the last five years. Their website features many images we’ve created together.

Full of portrait sessions, commercial work, event and non-profit photography, and weddings, 2025 was a successful and very busy year! I love the variety of photography I get to do-it keeps me interested and excited about my work! Please enjoy this 2025 photography retrospective.

Girls Rock Bham will always be one of my favorite organizations! My daughter participated three summers in a row as a preteen. We have nothing but good things to say about this program! SO EMPOWERING! I usually photograph their showcase in the summer; this summer it was at Saturn Birmingham.

I photographed Holy Family Cristo Rey‘s annual fundraiser, as I have done for the past four years. HFCR is a private Catholic high school serving “economically challenged communities” with a successful corporate work study program that encourages students to pursue college.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to look at my portfolio, read reviews, and do the general research it takes to make a decision about the photographer you want to hire.

My daughter is a senior in high school and of course I’m taking every opportunity to photograph her before she goes to college! I love this image of her right before the first day of school. She looks radiant!

Somehow among the many paid photography jobs, I found time for a handful of creative sessions. I’m grateful for these as a way to escape and really let my imagination thrive!

I photographed Songbird Salon and their lovely staff. What a great group of people! It’s a really cute salon in the heart of Avondale.

I happily accepted a job to photograph the Cahaba Valley Health Care’s Magic City Dessert Competition. There were mountains of sweets to sample, dancing, and awards. It was a pretty fun night.

As you can see, I’m a happy, busy, family photographer much of the time! I’m so grateful to the families I’ve worked with over the years. It is the ultimate compliment for clients to return! I calculated my new clients in proportion to my return clients and found that I had previously worked with 59% of the people I photographed this fall. And interestingly, I’d photographed 75% of my return clients three or more times! WOW! While I think it’s wonderful to form relationships with new clients; I’m so excited and incredibly flattered that so many of my former clients continue to trust me to document their lives.

As you may know, I taught at the Creative Montessori School for fifteen years before starting Bang Images. When I resigned, I left on great terms with the promise of keeping in touch. Even ten years later, I still find myself interacting with the school in some way once or twice a year. I photographed two fund raisers for them in 2025 and also visited the school twice to photograph students for their website. I’m really excited to see the website when the new images are added. A lot of the photos you see there now, I created a decade or more ago!

Fiesta Bham is an annual event in downtown Birmingham that’s been around for over twenty years! I certainly can’t say it any better than their own website, so why try! “Since its inception in 2003, Fiesta has served as a bridge, celebrating the culturally diverse traditions of Latin America’s various Spanish-speaking countries right here in Birmingham.”

I tend to over share images in these sorts of post. It’s almost impossible to narrow them down, so if you’ve made it to the end of this photography retrospective, I thank you!

Let’s make 2026 your year for working with Bang Images! Contact me if you’re in need of photographer. I love photographing individual portraits-maybe it’s your birthday or you’re a graduating senior! I also enjoy photographing couples and families! And getting to capture all the wonderful candid moments at events and weddings is fantastic! I live for the photojournalist approach. Non-profits and I go together like peanut butter and chocolate! I hope to work with even more organizations putting out good community energy in 2026.

Thank you, everyone, for making Bang Images’s tenth year in business a wonderful success!
