Winter portrait sessions are exciting! They’re a little unpredictable because you may get a sixty degree day with sun or a thirty degree day with rain; but I’ve learned to be flexible and if one idea doesn’t work well, we move onto another one. Carito and I met at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens https://www.bbgardens.org/ on a beautiful morning, and although the sun was shining, we were only a couple of degrees away from seeing our breath. We shivered and laughed through about a half hour of portraits and then decided to take the shoot indoors.
Being outdoors that morning put us in the mood for hot chocolate! We traveled a short distance to Revelator Coffee in Mountain Brook https://revelatorcoffee.com/ . It was the perfect remedy for cold fingers and Revelator has an abundance of wonderful light because of their large windows. It was just right for a quick clothing change and a great way to finish our photo session together.
After warming up with cocoa, we soaked up the sun and photographed for a few minutes just outside of the shop. Carito was so expressive, and so full of smiles! Who doesn’t feel good on a beautiful day? What a great portrait session and good time we had together! Winter sessions in Birmingham can be fun and interesting because there are so many possible locations! We have a plethora of coffee shops, hotels, and fun eateries if you aren’t up for an outdoor session.
