Awbrey and Ross and I go waaaay back, all the way back to a day in September when we met for one of my most memorable engagement sessions! I had actually met Awbrey before when we began planning their wedding day, but my first experience with them as a couple was when we documented their engagement. Even though it’s only been a couple of months since that session, it feels like we’ve known each other much longer. They’re just the type of people who make you feel comfortable, and you probably know what it’s like to be around a couple that truly loves each other; it’s a laugh a minute and enough joy for everyone to go around.
Awbrey and Ross met through mutual friends while he was working out of state. They immediately hit it off! Only a short time passed before he made plans to move back to Birmingham. The wedding day started with the bride and bridesmaids at The John Hand Building and the groom and groomsmen at The Elyton Hotel, conveniently located across the street from one another. They had a small wedding party with two women and two men by their sides. It was a very relaxed day with time for all the photographs they wanted and plenty of space for creativity a.k.a. a multitude of candid, authentic interactions among them to be captured. There was no rushing from point A to point B. There were no tears or stress-just a lot of laughter and a little pleasant, nervous anticipation. I was also impressed that despite the rain and a few minor bumps along the way, they had a wonderful time and kept their spirits high. So, here’s to you, Awbrey and Ross, I hope you never stop smiling!
A special thanks to Mary Fehr of M. Fehr Photography for second shooting!
