When I was asked to photograph a combined family totaling ten people, I honestly had mixed feelings. That’s a large group, which can be a challenge, but it was also an opportunity for loads of photos with so many new faces, which was exciting! We settled on a 90 minute session to allow for a good mix of posed and lifestyle photography. Understandably, it sometimes takes small children a little while to warm up to the idea of me following them around and pointing a large, black object at them. The more time I spend photographing a family, the better, in my opinion. This is why my shortest session is 60 minutes; any less than that and the session would feel rushed. My photography style doesn’t lend itself to a hurried approach. Nor does my personality, now that I think about it! 
We were able to achieve a good mix of playful, more candid images and posed ones. Our Fall Family Session was a success thanks to all ten of these wonderful people!
