Best Photographs of 2020 / Birmingham Photographer

2020-What a year! It was full of challenges in many ways; and we faced them in our social lives, within our families, and in our businesses. You don’t need me to list the hurdles of 2020 because they are painfully obvious to us all. Almost unbelievably, but definitely gratefully, Bang Images had its most successful fall season to date! Leading up to the fall was certainly less active with quarantining in the spring and postponed weddings throughout the year, but since I’m primarily an outdoor photographer, and the fall weather was so accommodating, outdoor portrait and family photography thrived! I met many wonderful and interesting people over the course of 2020. I photographed engagement sessions; family sessions, both on-location and at-home; birthday sessions; a surprise proposal; portrait sessions celebrating marriages that were unable to have wedding celebrations; senior sessions; maternity sessions; and creative personal sessions at a variety of locations. I also connected with the modeling agency Lucid out of Mississippi. It’s been such a rewarding year in business!
I enjoy photographing in various locations and try to keep things fresh. Sometimes we ventured into downtown Birmingham and explored the city scene, and other times we took advantage of Birmingham’s natural areas. Rotary Trail, Railroad Park, and Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham are interesting and convenient settings. Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Moss Rock Preserve, Turkey Creek Nature Preserve, and Avondale Park are favorites as well. And sometimes it was fun to explore the path less taken and photograph in a multitude of less likely settings like the lot of the burned Historic Shelby Hotel and other abandoned places. There were trips out-of-town too to liven things up a bit!

These images are what I consider my Best Photographs of 2020. I am so grateful; words honestly cannot express my love for my job, my passion-photography. Nothing gives me a rush quite like a successful photo session. It’s almost criminal to call this “work”. Thank you to all of my subjects. I hope to work with you again in the future.
