2026 has been a very busy year so far for Bang Images; one might say it’s been a big year with big events! I enjoy documenting them all, from fundraisers for small non-profit organizations to celebrations for large corporations.
Winter

Just after the new year, I photographed an open house for Crestline Health and Wellness. The event was primarily to introduce their new and exciting equipment, the Exomind machine. There were delicious and plentiful hors d’oeuvres, wine, gorgeous flowers throughout the space, and even a demonstration with the Exomind.

Next on my calendar was a fundraiser at one of my favorite locations. Whenever I’m hired to photograph an event at Clubhouse on Highland, I’m pretty excited. It’s one of Birmingham’s most beautiful, historic venues. I photographed a fundraiser for GirlSpring, a non-profit whose mission is near and dear to my heart-to empower girls and provide education and leadership opportunities.

Creative Montessori School is where I taught for fifteen years before founding Bang Images. I enjoy photographing for the school even now, 11 years later. I’ve helped them update their website with new images and covered many fundraising events for them. I’m grateful to continue our relationship! It’s a wonderful school, and I’m a believer in the Montessori method. Sometimes I even miss teaching a little.

The Fennec is a very cool event space located in downtown Birmingham. Highlands School held their disco themed fundraiser there earlier this year. It was such a lively, well-attended, fun event! They had the very apt entertainers, Magic City Disco. I had a great time photographing this event and hope to work with Highlands School again!

I was a second photographer for the talented Mary Fehr for the 2026 Birmingham Heart Walk. Hundreds of people gathered at Railroad Park in Birmingham for this annual fundraising event held by the American Heart Association.

Spring

Holy Family Cristo Rey High School combines a college preparatory environment with work-study classes to prepare students for life beyond high school. I’ve photographed multiple events for HFCR over the last six years including their 2026 annual fundraiser at The Club. The Club is always a beautiful venue, and what a gorgeous sunset we had that evening!

Buffalo Rock‘s 125th Anniversary event was probably the largest corporate event I’ve ever documented. I was pleasantly surprised to see my friend L. Richard Albright in attendance; he designed their anniversary logo under his company Creative 369. It was well-attended in their recently renovated space; I love the amount of natural light it offered.

There have been a couple of firsts for Bang Images in 2026; one of which was photographing a fraternity formal for Sigma Chi. It was held at Sloss Furnaces in the early spring. I’m still kicking myself for not asking the name of the band they hired because it was hands down one of the best I’ve seen at an event (and I’ve photographed maaaany weddings too). It was probably the most interesting venue I’ve been in as well. The crowd was awesome too with a lot of good energy.

I photographed an end-of-the-year party for Homewood High School‘s dance team, the Spangles. It was a really sweet backyard event on a gorgeous, toasty warm Alabama afternoon.

Holy Family Cristo Rey High School has held their graduation ceremony at St. Francis Xavier Church for the last several years. It’s such a beautiful space!

As you are probably aware, June is Pride Month. A friend and Central Alabama Pride board member organized the first Bham Punk Pride, an all-ages Pride music show at Lakeview Marina Music Park. When he asked me to volunteer my time, it was an easy yes! Punk music and a Pride celebration? Sign me up! I love nothing more than witnessing people living their best lives, comfortable in who they are and feeling welcome. It really was a great night!

2026 is only halfway through, and it has been full of fun events! I look forward to what’s to come. Be on the lookout for images from The Queer Wedding Blitz at Avenue D Events in just a few days. I’m really excited to document three LGBTQ+ couples’ ceremonies! I’m also really excited about the Girls Rock Bham showcase that will be held at Saturn Birmingham in about a month. I’ve been working with them since my own daughter participated roughly a decade ago.
