How do some people feel so comfortable in front of a camera and make it seem so beautifully effortless? This is one of life’s mysteries. Vivian and I met for a sunset shoot in Downtown Birmingham last fall. And yes, she completely knocked me off my feet!

Vivian was up for just about anything. She’s a runner so it was no surprise she was full of energy. She had a loveable, merry, Tigger-like quality about her too. The camera a.k.a. the photographer a.k.a. I absolutely loved her!

Golden hour just before sunset is one of my all-time favorite times of the day to photograph. The light changes quickly, which makes it exciting. I love how many different variations of light and mood you see in such a short time. It’s dramatic one minute and soft the next.

Vivian did not disappoint with many different expressions and poses. As a photographer, I seriously couldn’t have hoped for more from my subject!

If you’re on the fence about hiring a photographer for a portrait session, how about considering a sunset shoot? With the right photographer, you should get an abundance of photos with different looks as the light evolves. And with a playful attitude and open mind, you too could have photographs that range from pensive to silly, and everything in-between.
I hope you’ll contact me to plan your individual portrait session; maybe you’ve been inspired to have a sunset shoot in Downtown Birmingham!
