Blue Board is a new and exciting location guide app that I recently discovered through the power of social media. It’s an incredible tool that I didn’t even know existed, but I knew I needed it as soon as I saw it! I try not to make impulsive decisions when it comes to my business, but this was seriously a no-brainer. Please read ahead for directions about using the Blue Board app as a Bang Images client or as a photographer interested in how it works.

Once you’ve booked your portrait session with Bang Images, you’ll receive a link via email to look through the Blue Bird app to select your favorite locations. I’ve been building my guide for the last two months and have managed to save nineteen places so far. I think it’s going to be really beneficial this fall during my busiest season of the year!

MOBILE
On mobile, when you follow the link, you’ll land on the home page and click “view locations”. That will take you to a map with thumbnail images spread across a 20-mile radius. The more you zoom in, you’ll see street names and titles of areas like “Morris Avenue, First Avenue North Historic District”. If you click on a thumbnail image, it will open all image examples for that location and a description of the area. The description discusses things that stand out about that particular location, the best times of day and year to photograph there (if relevant), and even recommendations for parking. I tried to be as thorough as possible.
There is a second option for looking at locations in the bottom right corner of the screen. If you press the blue circle with the four white squares inside it, a page will open. You can choose the category of setting you’re interested in, or leave it set to “all categories” and see all locations. Then you may scroll down the page to see the options. When you see something you like, just click to open.
If the location says “included” in blue, that means there’s no extra charge. Locations that are more than 20 miles from my home incur a travel fee of $1.25/mile.
You’ll have the option of getting directions to the location by following the “get directions” link.
If you find location(s) you’re interested in, click the link that says, “select this location”. A page will open for you to fill in your name and email address to notify me.
I’ll receive an email message letting me know you’ve made selections. I’ll respond to settle on a meeting place.

DESKTOP
On a desktop, the experience is slightly different. When you follow the link, you’ll land on the homepage and scroll until you see the phrase, “view locations”. That will take you to the location options. There will be photos to scroll through on the left side of the screen and a map on the right. You may zoom in on the map by scrolling up with your mouse wheel and zoom out by scrolling down. You’re welcome to view locations in the way that’s most comfortable for you. The end result is the same. You’ll select a thumbnail to open and read through the descriptions and look at the example photos until you find the location(s) that resonate with you.
This information is the same for both mobile and desktop.
That’s all there is to it! Easy peasy!

The locations you see in the Blue Board app are not your only choices. I’m always happy and interested to hear your ideas and I love checking out a new location. Don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and interests. I also offer at-home sessions for couples and families. Just share your address with me and I’ll let you know how far apart we are.
I hope this blog post was helpful for Bang Images clients and photographers alike. Please contact me to schedule your portrait session.
