Bang Images fall family photo season is upon us! How fitting to post my first of many family sessions to start my busiest season in photography! I absolutely love it but it gives me butterflies too. Since I’m also a photographer for UAB, it means I’ll quite literally be emersed in photography seven days a week with very little time off for the next few months. And even though I’ve been a photographer for more than thirty years, with my own business for more than a decade, I still grow anxious with anticipation before every shoot! I think this is a good thing. It means I care…a lot. I want to do a fabulous job! I want you to love what we create together. It’s very important to me because it’s important to you!

I am incredibly fortunate. Not everyone gets to turn their passion into a career. I try not to take it for granted. I realize how special it is and I’m grateful every day.

Fall in Alabama is gorgeous; there’s no doubt about that! It stands to reason why families book more outdoor portraits with me during this time of year. In fact, it’s when I too choose to create portraits of my own family, whether setting up a tripod or hiring another photographer to document us.

One of the biggest compliments I can receive is an unspoken one. It’s when I am asked repeatedly to document a family. When I first photographed this family, they had one child, a little one, barely walking. This was our third family session together, and what an honor it is to photograph them!

Because we chose early fall to meet, and we live in Alabama, it’s still pretty warm-warm enough to wade through a creek. So that’s exactly what we did.

We didn’t have colorful leaves on trees, but we did find goldenrod-one of my favorites because of its bold, yellow color!

By the end of our session, the kids had just about worn themselves out, to the point that when they spotted this bench, they decided to take a little rest.

It was a really fun, playful time and a great way to kick off Bang Images fall family photo season! What an adorable family!
It’s not too late to book your fall session. Not only do I photograph families, but I also photograph individuals and couples, including weddings and events. Please contact me for information.
